This episode of our post-processing workshops is dedicated to painting. Finally, the model will gain some colours. For the headphone stand as well as the outer parts of the headphones we will use white paint. The inner ear pads will be painted silver.

Be sure to check out the previous episode where we showed how to wet sand the model: Episode 04.

The .stl files are available for download here: headphones and a headphone stand.

Necessary Tools

To paint your models, prepare: a rack, cans of paint, a degreaser, and a face cover mask.

2

Cleaning the Model

Prior to painting, each piece of the headphones and the headphone stand needs to be cleaned using a degreaser. Wet a piece of paper towel with the degreaser and wipe each piece thoroughly.

3

Setting the Models on the Rack

Set all the degreased models firmly on the rack with a piece of adhesive tape. The models shouldn’t move and they have to be easily accessible from any side.

4

Painting the Models

Make sure the room you’re painting in is well-ventilated.

Shake the can well and begin to apply the paint. Start with hard-to-reach areas and finish with one thin layer on the whole model.

Wait about 30 seconds and spray the paint onto the whole model once again part by part until you achieve the desired effect.

Remember not to paint for too long in one place as this may leave stains.

PUT THE MASK ON FOR SAFETY BEFORE YOU START Painting!
